A coalition of more than 100 development organizations, officials and activists including Institute of Global Responsibiity (acronym: IGO) is urging World Bank President Robert Zoellick to reactivate B-SPAN, its now-defunct webcasting station, in order to share vital economic development knowledge created inside the Bank. They say B-SPAN’s ability to disseminate information can help the Bank reduce global poverty as well as increase the institution’s internal transparency.

This year’s flagship AidWatch report – Challenging self-interest: Getting EU aid fit for the fight against poverty says that: aid is becoming increasingly dictated by domestic political agendas and tied to security, immigration and commercial objective; in 2010 EU member states inflated official aid spending by more than €5bn; only nine EU countries met their EU aid targets.

The OECD Development Assistance Committee has published the Report from the Special Review on Poland in May 2010. The launch of the report was during the Conference organised in Warsaw by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The report was presented by E. Deutscher, head of the OECD DAC. Many recommendations are in line with the policy asks raised by Polish NGOs in consecutive Aid Watch reports on Polish Official Development Assistance (ODA).

The European Commission's Spring Package 2010 offers an opportunity for a new momentum for the Polish government to bring its Official Development Assistance (ODA) back on track. Poland, a country of Solidarity, should use EC's recommendations to enhance efforts to fulfil Polish commitments on aid levels and on the improvement of aid effectiveness.

Over 40 Latin American and Caribbean organisations took part in this event to prepare for the European Union-Latin American and Caribbean Summit in May.

Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) announced results of call for proposals for development projects in 2010. Project aid to Africa was cut almost by half and the overall amount of funds for NGO projects decreased significantly - these are the two main conclusions done by the Institute of Global Responsibility (IGO) in it's recent analysis.
